Thank you to our Guest Contributor Emma Williams for this wonderful article…
After all the big things such as finding the perfect venue, saying yes to the dress, and purchasing the wedding bands have been done it’s time to dedicate your time to details.
When it comes to weddings it’s safe to say that little details are truly important. However, they get overlooked so easily and this is why we decided to make a small list of all the bridal accessories you’ll need on your wedding day.
Let’s take a look and make sure you don’t forget any of these things on your special day.
1. Wedding shoes
First, you should know that wedding shoes matter, and you should take some time to choose the right pair. This is something that you should probably do even before the dress is completely done. This way you will be able to have your dress fitted with the perfect pair of shoes on.
When choosing wedding shoes there are some things to consider. First, keep in mind that you’d most likely be spending most of the day in them – so go for comfort above all else. Next, consider the venue – will you be outdoors on the grass or will you be somewhere with flooring?
If you the venue you chose is outdoors, you’d want to steer clear of high stiletto heels and stick to flats or wedges.
2. Bridal lingerie
By now, you have probably heard all about the power of lingerie. Lingerie can make you feel more confident, more attractive and sexy. Since the wedding day is your special day, you should feel all these things.
So, don’t forget to pamper yourself by buying beautiful lingerie. The thing with bridal lingerie is that it doesn’t have to match the wedding dress – you can experiment with colours, shapes, and styles. Choose something that will look flattering on your body and that will make you feel special on your wedding day.
If you’re the one who likes to stick to tradition, then you must not forget the garter. It’s said that wearing garter brings good luck and it’s a symbol of the consummation of the marriage. So, don’t forget to don this accessory as well!
3. Jewellery
When it comes to weddings, jewellery is like a cherry on the cake. A bride wouldn’t be completely ready without some elegant jewels. And as the tradition requires, every bride should have something old and something new, something borrowed and something blue.
If you are going to borrow jewellery or maybe pick out something old – whether that is a necklace, earrings or a bracelet make sure it shines as it did once it was brand new.
The most secure way for bringing back the shine of old jewellery is by using machines like ultrasonic jewellery cleaners, which are designed for that. Don’t let the fact that a certain piece of old jewellery needs cleaning stop you from using it on the day of your wedding when giving it back its shine is so easy.
And if you’re going to buy something new make sure it compliments your dress and stands out nicely.
4. Hair accessories
Hair accessories come in so many options that you’ll definitely have a fun time picking something out. Veils, headbands, combs, tiaras, pins, hats – options are truly endless.
Ultimately, the hair accessory you opt for will most likely depend on the hairdo you settle for. If your hair is going to be in an updo you can accentuate it with pins and combs. On the other hand, if you decide to have your hair down, choose tiaras or headbands.
If you decide on a veil, again you’ll face the same dilemma, which style to go for? Veils come in many different styles from short ones know as ‘flyaways’ to really long ones known as the ‘cathedral’. Then again there are also those vintage ones, very popular in the 1950s and 60s – the ‘birdcage’ veils.
The easiest way to choose the ideal veil is to consider these several things: your wedding dress, the venue, and your hairdo. Make sure the veil compliments the dress. Then if the venue is outside and the weather is hot, don’t complicate your life with long, heavy veils – opt for short, light ones. And finally, consider the hairdo when choosing the veil, at some point, you’ll want to take the veil off – make sure that during this process you don’t ruin your hairdo.
5. Wraps and coverups
This next accessory depends on the weather and the season you chose for your wedding day. The weather changes easily and it’s never a bad idea to have something to wrap around yourself in case it becomes chilly.
You can choose from shawls, jackets, wraps, boleros – whichever fits your style and your wedding dress. During the colder months, brides generally opt for faux fur wraps or jackets.
For example, if your dress is too revealing, you can use a bridal bolero to cover up your upper body during the church ceremony.
This is one thing that usually gets overlooked, so don’t be one of those brides who get chilled to the bone during their wedding day.
Conclusion
Do you know how they say that everything is in the details? This is especially true for weddings, so make sure that your wedding is perfect in every way – so don’t forget these bridal accessories!
