Thank you for sharing Wicked Bucks Parties…
Getting married is one of the most exciting stage of life! It’s a time that brings everyone together to celebrate the soon-to-be couple and their journey leading up to this point. As such a momentous occasion, it’s not unusual to feel a little overwhelmed when it comes to planning everything.
For many people, one of the biggest considerations is the catering. Whether you’re hosting an intimate affair with just your nearest and dearest or you’ve invited half the town, you need to make sure that no one goes hungry! On top of keeping everyone fed enough to handle their drinks, it’s also nice to have delicious food that everyone enjoys too.
After chatting to our friends at Wicked Bucks, we realised that it is traditionally the women that are often left to organise the catering on their own. If they’re not opting for a catered service, this can mean they spend hours in the kitchen getting everything ready too.
Along with the party planning team, we’ve put our heads together to brainstorm the best ideas to help get men involved in the catering too. These simple solutions are not only a great way to get everyone helping out, but also promise to be just as tasty too.
Before you start panicking about your wedding catering, check out these top five wedding catering ideas to get men involved.
Top five wedding catering ideas to get men involved
1. BBQ
We dare you to try and find a man that doesn’t love apron-ing up and getting behind the BBQ. The process of cooking the perfect steak and sausages on the beloved BBQ is more than a popular pastime – it’s an art form! One of the simplest ways to get men involved in the catering of your wedding is to go with a bbq-theme.
This easy yet totally tasty solution could see your soon-to-be-groom and his buck’s party rolling up their sleeves and grilling up a feast for everyone. From sausages, steak and hamburgers to corn cobs, veggies and skewers, the opportunities here are really limitless. The beauty of this approach is that the guys will not only have the chance to help out but can also enjoy some quality bonding time together while they’re cooking. It’s the best of both worlds!
2. Grazing platters
We’ve all seen the grazing platters on Instagram that look *almost* too good to eat. In fact, we’d be lying if we said we didn’t have a few of them in our saved pics as wedding inspo. While these platters look seriously luxe and decadent, they can be pretty simple to DIY too. In fact, it’s even an option that you can get the guys of your group involved with.
The best way to start here is to pick up all the supplies that you want to serve. We’re talking cheeses, dips, crackers, dried fruit, veggies, nuts, chocolate and more. Once you’ve got everything together, it’s a matter of chopping everything up, unwrapping all the goods and spreading it across your platters.
There is no need to worry about how neat everything is, because we often find the most beautiful grazing platters have a little bit of everything everywhere. Now, that’s what we call a simple crowd pleaser!
3. Pre-cooked meals
When we say pre-cooking meals, we’re not talking about the frozen servings you can pick up from your local grocery store. While these options are more than fine for a midweek feed or an easy Friday night at home, we reckon the soon-to-be-couple deserves something a little flashier for their special day.
We’ve found plenty of couples that spend the weekends leading up to the special day getting creative in the kitchen together. After preparing a range of tasty home-made treats, these gourmet delights are then frozen and kept until the wedding. Once the big day rolls around, it’s a matter of getting everything out and letting it defrost or reheating the dishes to be served.
4. Homemade pizzas
Homemade pizzas are always a hit – no matter if you’re 5 or 95. If you can hook yourself up with a large oven, pizza oven or outdoor kitchen, you can whip these up for your special day too. All you’ll need to do to get ready is prepare the bases – which you can even buy pre-made – and then pick up all the toppings.
By laying out the toppings for everyone to complete their own pizzas, you also offer your guests a great activity to keep them busy on the day. This can be a great icebreaker for any crowds with a variety of people who aren’t familiar with each other. Once everyone has topped their bases, you’ll just need to pop them in the oven for a few minutes before serving them the tasty treats.
5. Fresh seafood
When it comes to embracing Aussie culture, nothing says celebration like a batch of fresh seafood! This is not only a great way to treat everyone to some delicious food, but it’s also super simple to put together. To get the lads involved with this, they’ll just need to head down to the local fish shop to pick everything up and bring it to the venue.
If they’re feeling even more adventurous, they may even set off on their own boating trip to catch some fresh supplies themselves. However, we’d suggest having a good back up plan for this approach in-case they come home empty handed!
After grabbing the supplies, it’s a matter of laying everything out for everyone to help themselves and ensuring enough bins and waste bowls are left around for all the left-overs and shells.
