Everything you need to know about Invisalign….
What is Invisalign?
The Invisalign System is a nearly invisible way to straighten your teeth and your smile without the use of bulky, traditional braces.
How does Invisalign work?
Invisalign treatment works through a series of clear, comfortable and removable aligners. Each aligner is slightly different, moving your teeth gradually into the desired position.
Invisalign entails a series of mouth moulds which dentists are more than accustomed to doing for similar procedures such as mouthguards and dentures. From here, the mould is sent to the lab so the retainers can be manufactured. So while orthodontists are obviously more qualified in the entire teeth straightening experience, many general dentists are able to provide you with Invisalign.
How long does Invisalign take?
How long Invisalign takes varies greatly from person to person and situation to situation. On average you could expect your treatment plan to last about 28 weeks, however, it is best to contact your local dentist to get an exact timeframe.

Teeth Whitening….
What is Teeth Whitening?
Teeth whitening is a popular and affordable choice to brighten your smile. We have two options of whitening available.
- In-practice teeth whitening, or;
- Custom-made take home teeth whitening kits.
Maven Dental Southport clinicians will be able to advise you of your suitability and options for teeth whitening. Results can vary, but most people notice a change within a short period of time.
1 hour teeth whitening
In-chair teeth whitening means that your dentist will perform the procedure in the dental practice. This method of professional teeth whitening is the fastest and most effective way to brighten your teeth.
How long will teeth whitening take?
The in-chair teeth whitening will usually take around one to two hours to complete.
What happens when I get my teeth whitened at the dentist?
Your clinician will first apply a protective gel to the gums, followed by the application of the whitening gel to the teeth. The gel (which contains Peroxide) is then left on the teeth or some systems require activation by a special LED light (one is not better than the other, just a different gel), and the resulting reaction gently penetrates the tooth to lift deep stains and discolourations. This process varies in length of time, depending on factors such as individual goals for whitening and what can be achieved in the appointment.

Take-Home Whitening Kits
Custom manufactured take-home whitening kits can be an alternative to in-chair whitening. These kits are convenient and easy to use allowing the individual to apply their whitening agent, then sit back and relax while the whitening process begins.
Make an appointment with us and we will determine which custom manufactured take-home teeth whitening kit is suitable for you. A custom manufactured tray and professional grade whitening gel are only available from a dental professional. The snug fitting impressions and high-quality whitening agent provides results that over-the-counter supermarket options simply cannot.
Following the instructions with custom manufactured take-home whitening kits is very important. First, you’ll apply a small drop of gel inside each tooth impression of your custom manufactured tray. Then all you need to do is place them on your teeth and wait for the magic to happen. Abano Healthcare Group’s Trans-Tasman Clinical Director, Dr Fred Calavassy comments on the different systems available in a dental office.
